万国光，南京大学商学院工商管理系助理教授，副研究员。香港科技大学管理系博士，曾任香港科技大学高等研究院博后和管理系教师。东南大学本科，南京大学硕士。他在国际高水平杂志如Journal of International Business Studies (UTD-24), Journal of Management (FT-50)和Management and Organization Review (ABS3)发表多篇论文。目前担任Journal of International Business Studies (UTD-24)编委会成员，南大商学评论 (CSSCI来源期刊)执行编辑。他的研究兴趣是公司社会责任，人力资本(通用和专用人力资本，战略领导)和国际商务。

活动简介：

We argue that Chinese traditional culture promotes a firm’s outward foreign direct investment by fostering its corporate social responsibility which helps it address legitimacy challenges in the host countries. The idea was tested using three years of data covering 2,514 Chinese listed firms (7,106 observations). A positive relationship was demonstrated between the strength of Chinese traditional culture in a region of China (subnational) and outward foreign direct investment by firms located in the region. And the effects of Chinese traditional culture are magnified for firms with a government affiliation such as state ownership and mediated by corporate social responsibility. A supplementary study based on a survey sample of private firms in China establishes the micro foundations by showing a positive relationship between Chinese traditional culture in a region and a CEO’s Chinese traditional culture, and a mediation effect of corporate social responsibility between a CEO’s Chinese traditional culture and outward foreign direct investment.
