Prof. Wang Zongjun, Wang Haijun Attended AMBA International Conference for Deans and Directors 2012

  Prof. Wang Zongjun, vice dean (in charge of daily work) and doctoral supervisor of the School of Management, together with Wang Haijun, director of International Accreditation Office, visited Barcelona of Spain on May 14-16 to attend AMBA (Association of MBAs) International Conference for Deans and Directors 2012 to further promote international accreditation work of the School and particularly prepare for the on-site evaluation and appraisal of the School for AMBA accreditation to be held on June 18-19.

  With the theme of “Future”, in particular “How Current and Future Innovations Influence Current Graduate Education”, the conference mainly covers: (1) The future of business. Ibon Zugasti who chairs the Spanish node of Millennium Project offered as yet unpublished insights from the next report spanning all aspects of the future of the business world. (2) Innovations in MBA programs. Director of GMAC and MET Fund elaborated new innovation ideas put forward in innovation challenge contests. (3) Trends and innovations in management education. Professors delivered an overview of the global MBA market with a specific focus on how this is impacting innovation in post-graduate business education. (4) Changing corporate environment: innovations in the business world. The conference had discussions on innovations that would influence future employment of newly graduated students and corporate environment. (5) Business school in 2022. The conference provided an outlook on the development of business schools around the globe in the next 10 years.

  The conference gave a picture of changes of the industry and business management education in the next two decades. Speakers from global leading business schools and institutions analyzed inspirations brought by various innovations under the current business school environment and innovative teaching practices targeting at subjects other than business management education. The conference also opened a sub-forum for China for the first time in the history of AMBA, which was themed on Innovation of MBA Education in China. The sub-forum attracted deans of business schools of the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and other countries and regions. Deans of domestic business schools certified by AMBA gave introduction to innovation practice of MBA education in China and shared their insights about improvement of MBA education with participants.

  AMBA attached great importance to the conference and made elaborate arrangement. AMBA Chairman Sir Paul Judge and CEO Prof. Sharon Bamford were present at the whole conference. Attendees of the conference also included AMBA China region representative Prof. Wang Chongming and deans and directors of business schools and schools of management of a large number of Chinese universities (such as Zhejiang University, Xiamen University, Tongji University, Harbin Institute of Technology, South China University of Technology, Wuhan University, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Beijing University of Science and Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology, University of Electronic Science and Technology, Jinan University, and Hohai University).

  During the sessions, Prof. Wang Zongjun met with AMBA Chairman Sir Paul Judge, CEO Prof. Sharon Bamford, accreditation experts Prof. Andrew R Lock and Prof. Ronald Tuninga, and accreditation projects manager Mark Stoddard gave a brief introduction to the School and the preparation for the AMB certification. On the evening, Prof. Wang Zongjun held a detailed discussion with Prof. Wang Chongming on the preparation. In addition, Prof. Wang Zongjun had exchange of ideas with deans of business schools or schools of management of a number of universities, including Zhejiang University, Xiamen University, Harbin Institute of Technology, South China University of Technology, Wuhan University, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Beijing University of Science and Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology, Jinan University, and Hohai University.

  The conference was of great significance for the coming AMBA accreditation for the School in terms of preliminary introduction and preparation.
