It is worth celebrating that the subject of optical engineering ranks first in the country, the subject of public health and preventive medicine, management science and engineering rank second in the country, and the subject of electrical engineering ranks third in the country. As one of the preponderant subjects of the School of Management, the Management Science and Engineering presented a great gift for the 40th anniversary of our school.
In order to analyze the level and development trend of various disciplines in colleges and universities, soft science developed a dynamic monitoring system for the development level of disciplines in colleges and universities in 2015. The system uses more than 30 key indicators reflecting discipline competitiveness in terms of high-end talents, scientific research projects, achievement awards, academic papers, personnel training, etc. to track and measure the real-time performance and relative positions of nearly 10 thousand discipline points in Chinese universities. With the continuous development of the nation’s “double-first-class” construction, the evaluation and selection of first-class subjects has once again become a hot topic in the higher education circles and the society. In this context, based on the indicators and data of the dynamic monitoring system of the subject development level of colleges and universities, soft science began to publish the ranking of the best subjects in China in 2017. The purpose of the ranking is to provide reference for the discipline construction in colleges and universities with objective data, and also to provide information for students to choose schools and the public to understand the discipline level in colleges and universities. The disciplines used in the ranking of China’s best disciplines are the first-class disciplines in the latest Catalog of Degree-granting and Talent-training Disciplines by the Ministry of Education. In each first-level discipline, the object of ranking is all universities that have academic degree authorization points for graduate students in that first-level discipline, and the universities that are ranked in the top 50% of this discipline are published.
