Introduction to the presenter:

Professor Diethmar Harhoff, Academician, Nationale Akademie der Wissenschaften, Academician, German Academy of Science and Engineering, Member of the Group of Experts on Innovative Dialogue of German Chancellor Angela Dorothea Merkel, is currently Director of Institute of Innovation and Competition of Max Planck. Professor Dietmar Harhoff, who obtained his Ph. D. in 1991 at the MIT Sloan School of Management, researches in a wide field and has published a series of high-level papers in top management journals such as Research Policy, Management Science, Journal of Business Venturing. Professor Diethmar Harhoff led the team to provide important services over intellectual property and innovation policy advisory to governments and industry companies in Germany and other European countries. He also serves as Chairman of the Preparatory Committee of the German Agency for Disruptive Innovation and a Member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the German Federal Ministry of Economy and Technology. He served as Chairman of the Scientific and Economic Advisory Committee of the European Patent Office and Vice-Chairman of the European Association for Intellectual Property Policy.
