Introduction of the lecture:
A great deal of literature on innovation and entrepreneurship shows the challenges of allocating resources between existing products and innovation opportunities. But current research is still limited in how companies can use potential measures to stimulate managers to invest more in innovation opportunities. In a research lab's Behavioral Experiment, we study the organization's goal setting for the allocation of resources for investment in existing products and innovative technologies. Contrary to popular belief in current goal-setting literature, our results suggest that difficult organizational goals reduce managers' investment in new opportunities.
